Amazing camera, amazing lens, snap mode rules under a good light and using f8, f11, f16.
The negatives came out a bit grainy for my taste.

I really like these, the grain works for me and they have some excellent contrast. Always quite fancied a GR1 but have enough cameras already and they still hold there value! I do have the original GRD which is pretty good though especially when using the black & white settings. Some of my favourite images on my blog were taken using the little Ricoh.

Must take it out again as I’ve not used it much since I got a Fuji X10 which is so good for a compact digital and is the one I take with me everywhere.

Just bought a Nikon FE for Β£25 from a charity shop (couldn’t resist) as I’ve got an old Nikon F with the lenses to go with it but it’s a bit of a beast. The FE is pretty compact for an SLR and I really looking forward to putting my first roll of film through it.

    Thanks for sharing.

    • I just got a Ricoh GRD2 and it is a brilliant little camera. I’m very curious about the X10 but on the other hand I’m also curious about the X-Pro 1 πŸ™‚
      Be still my restless heart!

The FE is so sweet, like you said, compact and pretty straight forward and I’m having a lot of fun manual focusing a 35mm SLR. At the time I only have the 50/1.8 but I would love to get a wide angle lens for it. πŸ™‚

Thank you for stopping by Mark.

  2. Great shots and the grain works well. You have to love snap mode – I use it on my GRD4 at 1.5m. It is one less thing to worry about.

    • The funny thing is I’ve never used the Snap mode the first time I had this camera but… a couple of months ago I got a GRD 2 πŸ™‚

Yes, crazy deal, I got it. And all the sudden I went for the Snap mode with the digital sister and started to use it all the time on the Gr1s also.
