My Yashica Minister D was bought by my father in 1970, the year I was born. It still works in every aspect and the meter cell is still pretty much acurate however 1/500 top speed is hard to deal with on a regular sunny day and I do like to work with big apertures and narrow DOF.

Okay nevermind. I loaded the camera with Protopan 400 (the crazy film) and rated it at 100 ISO but I’ve developed it at box speed.

The result was low contrast, maybe some of the shots are a bit overexposed, and noticeable grain. i don’t think I’ll use this combination very often.

PS: I know I’ve not been posting very… interesting examples visually. I need some time off work and I need to change the scenery.

The Yashica Minister D was my first camera ever. Given to me by my father 30 years ago.
Everything still works including the meter (not certain about the accuracy though) but I don’t take it out much.

Well, this was an opportunity to try out the Rollei ATO 2.1 and to use the old Yashica. It was not a good idea because the Rollei is a tough film to deal with.

It was my first time using the Rollei ATO and all I can say for now is: it seems there’s no half-way with it. The transitions from light areas to dark areas are abrupt. Very easy to lose shadow detail but, on the other hand it doesn’t blow up the highlights. I think it’s a good film to use with positive EV compensation.

Again, this was my first time using the Rollei film and I’m not totally certain about the accuracy of the camera’s meter. I will make another test tomorrow with the Contax G2 without any EV compensation just be sure about the results from the Yashica.
